On 1 June 2018, a builder agreed to construct an extension to a homeowner's property for £50,000. The builder completed the work on 30 June 2018 but the homeowner refused to pay the final instalment of £15,000, claiming the work was defective. The builder did not pursue payment at the time due to the homeowner's financial difficulties. In January 2024, the homeowner inherited a significant sum of money. The builder has now issued proceedings for the outstanding £15,000.
